After a courageous battle with stage 4 cancer, Amalia, a Ventura County farmworker and devoted single mother, passed away. She was first diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2020 and, after years of fighting, learned last December that the cancer had spread to her stomach and lungs. Despite months of chemotherapy and radiation, her condition continued to worsen.

Before she passed, Amalia's final wish was to return to Mexico to see her father one last time. She was able to make that journey on July 10, 2026, and took her final breath surrounded by her family in Mexico shortly after her arrival.
